LibGdx Game Jam Break

Hi! In case you are just joining the blog, I am DinoSage, a game developer and programmer. Currently, I have been working on this project called Agility Rush, and this blog post is part of the blog for that same game. My past blog posts were about my status on the game at the time it was written. I would highly encourage you all to read my earlier posts, to get a good idea of what my game is, how the process has been, and what are my plans. This post, however, will not be like the other posts.

The News

This post is meant to be a short, general announcement of what has been going on. If you didn't know already, I have been making my game using the (awesome and incredible) LibGdx framework. The LibGdx framework is a java, programming-based framework to make video games as well as applications in general. The framework has a site from where you can download from, as well as a Discord server. Links will be posted at the end of this post. My point is that the LibGdx framework and the members of its Discord server hold game jams throughout the year.

What is a Game Jam?

A game jam put simply is an event hosted by a person or group where all participants must create a game within the allotted time period. This game may have additional rules, prizes for winners, and most importantly, always will have a theme. Each game must incorporate the theme, and the more you incorporate it, the better it usually is. Game jams typically last 2-3 days, however, the time period really depends on the jam host.

LibGdx Game Jam?

Back to talking about LibGdx, the discord server and its members are held game jams roughly every quarter. In fact, a LibGdx game jam was just recently hosted last Saturday on the 20th! So, what does this have to do with me? Well, I decided to take a small break from my game Agility Rush and to participate in the game jam which is only 1 week long and will end on the coming 27th. This DOES NOT mean that I have given up on my game! I promise that during this weekend. I will do some patch up and hopefully release the game. My progress has definitely slowed down since I began, and so taking a break will probably do me a little good. So please, don't assume that I have gone offline. I am still here. I am just working on the jam game.

I don't have much more to say. The last thing left is to check out the Libgdx Game Jam! Look at the games that result from it, and maybe even look at the game that I will submit for the jam. I promise I will do my best to wrap up Agility Rush. Check out below this post for the links and sources that I promised earlier.
